COB Minutes November 8, 2016

General Meeting November 8, 2016


1) Meeting called to order by president Robert Salter at 7:05 p.m.
2) Pledge of Allegiance lead by Larry Young.
3) Last month’s meeting minutes approved by Larry Young and Greg Brott.
4) September Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced.
5) Treasures report given by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) Club members report total was not available. We had 3 prospective member present. 7) Guest and new members were announced.


Old Business:

1) Tony Ennis updates on Veterans day parade and meeting place and time.
2) Greg Brott spoke about Trunk or Treat at Chuy’s COB members participated on October 27th.
3) COB reservation for Christmas party on December 3rd is Nov 26th .
4) Lengthwise COB out to lunch is on Sunday November 20th.
5) Bob Vella updated COB with Gamblers Classic. We will have Randy Anderson and Rick Reno Stevens and New Buck Owens Band. Bob will follow thru with resending emails to all Corvette clubs regarding Gamblers Classic.
6) Greg Brott updated COB with Streets of Bakersfield which will be on May 18th, 19th, and 20th. More to follow.


New Business:

1) Our Winner for COB Christmas Dinner for two was Tom Gibson Congratulations.
2) January 15 is our 1st annual lunch for the year. This will be where all COB members can discuss all runs
and events for the year. We encourage everyone to attend.
3) Issues with Three Way conference room availability has COB looking for a new meeting room any
suggestions will be considered. Suggestions from the Rocket Club to Sundale have been suggested.
4) Raffle and refreshment list for 2017 meetings has been started if you have yet to sign up please do so at
the next meeting.
5) Robert and Soila Salter have step down due to personal reasons, Bob Vella has stepped up and will proceed and finish the year off as President and Greg Brott has stepped up and will take over the Secretary position effective immediately. The board voted and agreed.

COB MINUTES--OCTOBER 11, 2016

General Meeting October 11, 2016

1) Meeting called to order by president Robert Salter at 7:01 p.m.
2) Pledge of Allegiance lead by Larry Young.
3) Last month’s meeting minutes approved by Larry Young and Henry Gallego with one correction addressed.
4) September Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced.
5) Treasures report given by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) Club members report total was not available. We had 1 prospective member present. 7) Guest and new members were announced.

Old Business:

1) Tony Ennis announced we had 37 people attend our annual wine run. The proprietor of the hotel bought a light for our use and we were really grateful. 50/50 brought in $280 and no total yet from the Raffle.
2) Charity event will be Oct 15th at Tom and Nancy Jones. All charities will attend and are extremely gracious. The mayor is not attending. There is a total of 69 RSVP’s.
3) Oct 9th event at Eureka Burger was a great success. Everyone loved it.
4) Sep 15th Night at Chuy’s 50/50 made $183 for COB. Thank you all who attended.

New Business:

1) Our February 14th meeting will be a dinner begin organized by Kathy Gallego. Updates will follow.
2) COB will raffle one Christmas dinner for two for our Hungry Hunter event on Dec 3rd at our November Meeting. You must be present to WIN.
3) Rick Reno Stevens band has signed the contract to be at our Gamblers Classis 2017. 4) Trunk or Treat at Chuy’s is Oct 27th.
5) COB is having a brunch at Lengthwise Brewery on Nov 20th Please RSVP if your planning to attend.
6) Gamblers Classic 2017 flyer has been sent out by email with Registration forms to Corvette Clubs.
7) COB members will be paying $30 per person to attend Gamblers Classic.
8) COB will have one Raffle in April for everyone who has paid to reimburse their payment to Gamblers
Classic. You must be present at the April meeting to WIN.
9) Tony Ennis spoke about the history of COB and the Veterans Day Parade. He has yet to receive any info regarding our participation. Veterans Parade is on Nov 11th. More info to follow.
10) COB is considering advertisement for Gamblers Classic in the National Corvette Museum website. Bob Vella will look into this for COB.

2) Pledge of Allegiance lead by Bob Vella.
3) Last month’s meeting minutes approved by Mitch Townsend and Arian Medina
4) September Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced.
5) Treasures report given by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) Club has 66 registered cars with 2 prospective members.
7) Guest and new members were announced.

Old Business:

1) Tony Ennis update on wine run for Oct 1st. Cost is $75.00 per person. Flyer have been sent out with info.
2) Charity event will be Oct 15th at Tom and Nancy Jones home. Nancy needs RSVP by Oct 30th.
3) Letters to all charities have been sent out. Only two have not RSVP. Bob and Nancy will work together to
contact those two charities for an RSVP.

New Business:

1) Bob Vella updated COB regarding the cabinet on display in the showroom at Three Way Chevrolet. Bob is in charge of keeping it updated. Anyone wanting to display something please contact him.

2) COB has note cards with our logo. Please contact any Board member if you feel one should be sent out.
3) All reimbursements need a form filled out and given to Ed Combs.
4) COB members will pay a fee to participate in Gamblers Classic 2017.
5) Tom Jones presented our new banner to COB.
6) Homecoming tailgate party at Bakersfield College has been cancelled.
7) CEO Ted Nicholas of Three Way Chevrolet and COB Board Robert Salter, Bob Vella and Greg Brott meeting was discussed with COB members. Very positive meeting and many changes to come.

1) COB raised a total of $1,930.00 for the raceway. COB will receive $965.00

4) Gregg Brott shared past events with a video show.

New Business:

1) Bob Vella announced he will be reaching out to new members by newspaper and television. He is working on the details and will update COB.
2) Gregg Brott announced on Sept, 15th at Chuys is Corvette Night and COB will be sponsoring a 50/50 drawing.
3) New membership rosters has been mailed out to all members.

General Meeting July 12, 2016

1) Meeting called to order by president Robert Salter at 7:07pm.
2) Pledge of Allegiance lead by Larry Young.
3) Minutes of June meeting were approved by Larry Young and seconded by Bob Vella.
4) July Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced.
5) Treasures report by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) We have 54 club members registered by Nancy Jones.
7) We have 1 prospective member.

Old Business:

1) Race track tickets/money was collected by Nancy Jones.
2) Reminder to all members about parking in our designated area.
3) Charity give away will be on October 15th at Tom and Nancy Jones home.
4) Wine run will be on Oct 1st. Hotel rate has been set. Reservations can already be made. Actual price of wine run has not yet been determined.
5) Membership dues are due on the last day of July. Reminder post cards have been sent.
6) Gregg Brott discussed updates on the Street of Bakersfield. Will be held on May 18, 19, and 20th.

New Business:

1) Bob Vella needs ideas for 2017 Gamblers Classic theme.
2) We will vote for our Charity give away in August meeting. We will vote for 2 per group. Honor Flight will be excluded because we have them as our charity for Street of Bakersfield.
3) Gregg Brott showed a 7minute video of past events.
4) Donation of $250 was given to COB by S.A. Nancy Jones client.
5) COB has bought a new 6x4 foot banner and it will be done by Friday.
6) Lunch run was discussed. Flyer will go out with info. Any ideals for events please contact Greg Brott.

COB MINUTES JUNE 14, 2016

General Meeting June 14, 2016


1) Meeting called to order by president Tom Jones at 7:05pm.
2) Pledge of Allegiance lead by Vice President Robert Salter.
3) Minutes could not be sent out for approval from last month’s meeting per Ed Combs.
4) June Birthdays were announced.
5) Treasures report by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) Club has 78 registered cars.
7) Guest and new members were announced. All members introduced themselves.
Old Business:
1) Race track tickets were distributed to members to sell for July 23. All members should
bring all the money of sold tickets or tickets NOT sold to our next meeting on July 12.
2) Three Way Chevrolet parking is begin enforced by the Manager of the business PLEASE
be courteous and park in the designated area provided to us on the south side of the
parking lot behind C&A Motors.
3) Gamblers Classic 2016 Dash plaques are available to those who would like one while
they last.
4) Gregg Brott gave an update on the Streets of Bakersfield car show begin held in May
2017.

New Business:

1) Bob Vella has made an agreement with Riverside for Gamblers Classic for April 2017
with the same prices from this year. Changes for improvement will be looked at.
2) Summer Solstice is Monday, June 20 at Sonic on White Ln. at 6pm everyone is invited.
3) Wine run will be Oct 1, 2016. Fees to be determined. Motel reservations can now be
made. Caterer has been reserved.
4) Charity giveaway and COB birthday party will be held on Oct 15, 2016 at Tom and
Nancy Jones home.
5) COB Christmas party will be held on Dec. 3rd at Hungry Hunters.
6) Tom Jones greatly appreciated all members who volunteered and participated in
events thru the years he was president and was very thankful to all who helped in any
form great or small he then handed over his duties to the new elected president of
COB.
7) Robert Salter new COB president addressed the members present with the
announcement of the new board.

COB MINUTES MAY 10, 2016

General Meeting May 10, 2016


1. Meeting called to order 7:10.
2. Pledge of Allegiance led by Don Shankle.
3. Minute of April meeting were approved by ?????? and seconded by ????????
4. Birthdays for May were announced.
5. Treasurers report was announced by Ed Combs,. The club has $21,800 in the general
account.
6. We have 78 paid members with two prospective members in attendance.


Old Business:

1. Bob Vella recapped the Gamblers Classic and cited the problems we had such as the
fence blowing down from the fierce winds.
2. Attendance was down from the last Gamblers Classic however we made more money
as the result of high raffle ticket sales. The club netted $10,944.98 from the event.
3. All of the emails sent to Bob were positive with the participants asking for another
Gamblers Classic. Everyone had fun.
4. A vote was taken and Gamblers Classic is on for next year.
5. Kudos to Kathy Gallego for her outstanding organization of the registration and to the
Slausons for setting up the seating for the dinner and show.

New Business:

1. The Charity Giveaway and COB Birthday party is slated for October 15, 2016
at Tom and Nancy’s home. $20,000 is set to be given away to our local charities.
2. Board of Directors elections were held. Ballots were collected by Robert Salter.
3. Greg Brott reviewed his meeting with the Streets of Bakersfield car show and cruise
committee. The show will take place on May 18, 19, 20, 2017. Eight car clubs will
organize the show with proceeds being split among them. Car show will take place
on Chester Ave., Bakersfield.
4. Membership dues were handed out to those in attendance.
5. Kern County Raceway invited us to participate in the opening ceremonies. A vote was
taken to see if the club wanted to sell admission ticket with half the proceeds coming
in to the club. $3,200 was raised last year. The vote was “yes”.
6. The next club meeting will be held at Three-Way Chevrolet on June 14, 2016. It is
important that club members park in the C&A Motors parking lot south of the
showroom. No exceptions.
7. Tom’s meeting with Three-Way was discussed. Along with the club parking situation,
the newsletter expense needed to be cut. The result is that the newsletter will be
emailed to club members.
8. The annual wine run is scheduled to be on October !st, 2016.
9. The Bobby Socks and Blue Jeans car Show in Wasco will be on June 4th, 2016. Various
other car shows were announced.

COB MINUTES APRIL 12, 2016

General Meeting April 12, 2016

1) Meeting called to order at 6:34 pm by President Tom Jones.
2) Pledge of Allegiance done by Tom Jones.

Old Business:
1) COB gathered to Stuff bags for Gamblers Classic today.
2) COB members brought all raffle prizes to put into trailer that will be transported to Gamblers Classic.

New Business:
1) Robert Salter presented Nominee ballots for COB members to fill out for 2016-2017 officers.
2) Shirt orders were handed out to COB members present.
3) COB provided pizza and drinks for COB members.

General Meeting March 8, 2016

1) Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m. by President Tom Jones. 2) Pledge of Allegiance done by Don Shankle. 3) Minutes of February meeting were approved by Larry Young and Gilbert Rivera. 4) March birthdays were announced. 5) Treasurer’s Report was read by Ed Combs and the club is solvent. 6) We have 75 club members with 2 prospect member.
Old Business:
1) Cook books have been ordered for goody bags 2) Greg Brott updated us on HWY 99 meeting. New date for show is March 9 thru 11, 2016. 3) We will have NO newsletter in our goody bags. 4) Every member must bring a Raffle prize for Gamblers Classic valued $25. 5) Gamblers Classis dinner will be paid for by COB for every member. You are expected to volunteer. Our
theme is “All American Red White and Blue” 6) COB shirts have been order as of this week.
New Business:
1) There will be NO Board Meeting in April. Regular Meeting will start at 6:30pm. COB will be providing Pizza for dinner.
2) Please bring all raffle prizes to our April meeting so we can load them into the trailer. 3) 185 cars have registered for Gamblers Classic 4) Super Cruise was a great success. Terry Ricker won 1st place for sports car, Larry Young, Annie Bailey and
Linda Combs received plagues. 5) All COB members must fill out registration form if your attending Gamblers Classic ASAP. 6) Tailgate to Laughlin will leave at 7am and another at 9am from the SHELL station on Weedpatch Hwy and
the 58. Everyone is welcome to join. 7) Any leaders for the Gamblers Classic that need to go to storage for supplies please contact Tom Jones. 8) We will begin the nominations for new officers in April.

COB Minutes--February 9, 2016

General Meeting February 9, 2016


1) Meeting called to order at 7:08 p.m. by President Tom Jones.
2) Pledge of Allegiance done by Don Shankle.
3) Minutes of January meeting were approved by Cathy Gallegos & seconded by Robert Salter
4) February birthdays were announced.
5) Treasurer’s Report was read by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) We have 75 club members with 1 prospect member.
7) All COB members announced themselves.
Old Business:
1) Shirt orders must be in by March 1st.
2) Hwy99 update by Greg Brogg. It will be held on Nov 4th and 5th, 2016
3) Update from Bob on Gamblers Classic 2016
New Business:
1) Club voted on Charity we would be representing for the Super Cruise.
2) We will be showing the oldest and newest car at Gamblers Classic in front of the parking lot.
3) Entertainer Monty Byrum has signed contract to perform at the Gamblers Classic.
4) Goody bags have been donated by Chase Bank.
5) Trophies -- looking at changing the car on trophies.
6) COB members are expected to bring one raffle prize per member who attends Gamblers Classic.
7) COB donates $2,500 to buy raffle prizes.
8) All COB members volunteering will have their dinner paid by COB at Gamblers Classic.
9) April’s meeting will be consisting of filling Goody Bags and stuffing the trailer with all raffle prizes, so please bring all raffle prizes and goody bags stuffers you have collected. Pizza will be provided by COB.
10) Gamblers Classic theme is “ALL AMERICAN Red White and Blue”

COB Minutes--January 11, 2016

General Meeting January 11, 2016

1) Meeting called to order at 7:16 p.m. by President Tom Jones.
2) Pledge of Allegiance done by Don Shankle.
3) Minutes of September meeting were approved by Adrian Medina & seconded by Mitch Townsend
4) December and January birthdays were announced.
5) Treasurer’s Report was read by Ed Combs and the club is solvent.
6) We have 75 club members with NO prospect members.
7) Visitors announced by Tom Jones.
Old Business:
1) Veterans Parade had a total of 27 participants. Pre Greg Brott.
2) Toy Run went well per Mitch Townsend.
3) Shirt orders are due by March 1st.

New Business:
1) Board had a Gamblers Classic meeting on 1/11/16. All committees will start meeting in Feb, 2016 with Bob Vella.
2) Gamblers Classic needs more volunteers to participate. Tom passed out sign-up sheets for members to sign up.
3) Board members voted on 1/11/16 to provide dinner to any member volunteering their services at Gamblers Classic.
4) Members are begin asked to please contribute at least one raffle prize per person attending the Gamblers Classic.
5) We need Goody Bag stuffers anything is useful like rulers, cups, pens notepads…We are making 300 bags.
6) Super Cruise Car show is Feb 27, 2016. The COB has 12 reserved spaces. We have also donated a plaque for the show. They will accommodate more COB members if needed.
7) BCC would like a Chairman to represent our club for the HWY 99 car show, Greg Brott has volunteered.
8) Our Christmas party for 2016 will once again be held at Hungry Hunter.
9) Sign up sheets for refreshments and raffle prizes passed out to members to sign up for the year.
