Please plan to attend the Celebration of Life of Jack Atkinson on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 12 PM at the Four Seasons Lodge located at 10500 Toscana Drive in Bakersfield. Please RSVP by October 9 to Yolanda at 650-873-5552 by phone or text. Jack passed away on July 15, 2022 of Mesothelioma after about 31/2 years of suffering the effects of the disease. It was at this time that he moved from San Francisco to Tehachapi and immediately join Corvettes of Bakersfield.
Jack and Yolanda are avid car fanatics and members of many clubs and organizations. Starting off with a Datsun/Nisaan 240Z car in his youth, he became very proficient in designing and creating body panels and modifications for his 240Z’s. When the 300ZX came out, he worked his magic and created two widebody sports cars that were each one of a kind. He would later on embellish them with vinyl overlays such as stripes, lettering and numbers to further distinguish them from any other 300ZX. His latest creation with the 300ZX was putting a Corvette LS engine in his white Z.
Jack bought his first Corvette about 13 years ago as well as acquiring several exotic sports cars over the years. With what was originally intended to be his wife Yolanda’s Corvette, Jack has transformed it from a plain white C6 into a show stopper that traveled across the country many times with the Santa Clara Corvette club; including attending the Gambler’s Classic a couple of times. Corvettes of Bakersfield never got to realize the full potential of Jack’s membership in our club but we still have Yolanda who is quite an organizer and intends to stay busy with COB.
This invitation is exclusive to the COB club and all of Jack’s friends from all of the other clubs he was a member of; north and south of us. Please plan to attend and honor his memory. Also, considering donating to the Pacific Mesothelioma Center in his memory. Attached is a form to send your donation.
