Bring: Drinking water, a full tank of gas, an FRS radio
Trip Duration: 4.75 – 5.25 hours round-trip driving time (depending on your return route), plus time for a pit stop, lunch, and shopping. Estimate to be back in Bakersfield by 6:30 PM if you shop for 2 hours.
Details: This will be a fun drive along scenic and curvy Highway 33 through the Los Padres Forest to the Ventura coast for lunch, cool air, and shopping! After a briefing, we will caravan west towards Cuyama, then south on Highway 33 towards Ventura. We will have a pit stop about halfway there at Santa Barbara Pistachio Company in Ventucopa, where we can sample a variety of famous organic pistachios available for purchase and use the facilities. In Ventura, we will enjoy a delicious lunch with an ocean view at the Aloha Steakhouse ($13+). This is Ventura’s only beachfront restaurant! After lunch, we will caravan to the Camarillo Premium Outlets, which features an amazing 160 retailers. We will disband at the outlets, so everyone can choose to shop for as little or as long as they want.
